A reliable supplier of foundry products

We are Slévárna METALURGIE Rumburk s.r.o., a foundry with a tradition of experience in grey and ductile cast iron. We specialise in piece and small batch production of castings for making machine tools, for construction machinery and for the food industry and many other industries. We are located in the northern tip of the Czech Republic, in close proximity to the border crossing with Germany, in a perfect place from which to supply quality products to our customers.

History

1903

Establishment of the foundry

Originally, castings were made at the foundry for textile machines and as another major part of the production also castings for the company Arno Plauert Maschinenfabrik; at that time the foundry employed 100 people.

1947

Transfer to administration by the state

From 1 January that year, the foundry was transferred to administration by the state in the form of the state-owned company Severočeské strojírny a slévárny, n. p., Praha. The Thiele company became part of the newly formed state-owned company Textilstroj Rumburk.

1949

Agreement and takeover

Agreement between Textilstroj and TOS Varnsdorf by which the plant machinery was assigned to Textilstroj and the vacated facilities were taken over by TOS.

1950

Physical transfer of equipment

The foundry equipment from the former Bönisch company in Varnsdorf was moved to the Textilstroj Rumburk foundry. On 1 January, all the Thiele facilities became part of the newly formed TOS Varnsdorf, a state-owned company, as its plant 02 – Rumburk foundry. The number of employees rose to 188 after the merger.

1978

Crisis and decline

The foundry found itself on the verge of being shut down because of its outdated equipment and facilities, exceeding environmental standards, low capacity and other similar factors.

2000

Modernisation of plant technology

The melting aggregate was replaced and the technology of self-solidifying mixtures – furan-based, with complex regeneration of the furan binder system, and IMF 8 t, 10 t and 20 t moulding mixers were implemented.

2001

2001-2008: Investments and development

The plant purchased a Schlick shot blasting machine, and other investments included the central changing rooms, the administration building and the main production hall.

2010

Ongoing production and flood

The production began of ductile cast iron under cooperation between TOS Olomouc, s.r.o. and Gleason; a new Progelta modification station for the production of spheroidal graphite cast irons. In August that year, METALURGIE Rumburk was affected by a severe flood.

2018

New hall

Construction of a new two-bay hall for cleaning and finishing of castings with a 25-tonne shake-out grid; extension of the heavy core shop with a WÖHR 30 t/h mixer; commissioning of another melting unit – a 5-tonne rotary drum furnace; STEM hanging shot blasting machine (Slovenia); Spolmont painting bay.

As a result of the recertification audit carried out on 24-25 January 2024 by the certification body, the ISO 9001 certificate version 2016 has been implemented with validity from 5 February 2024 until 4 February 2027.
